Finding cane rods to fish with or restore can be quite difficult. I get most of the rods for my own projects from eBay although occasionally I’ve been lucky enough to find a real gem tucked away in the back of a second-hand shop.

To save time when I’m looking on eBay for a rod for my next project I’ve created some custom search links that I find save a lot of time as I don’t have to trawl through hundreds of listings.

There are various tackle auctions around the country several times a year, and these can be a good source of cane rods, either ready to fish or requiring restoration, but as these are regularly attended by knowledgeable bidders it can be difficult to pick up a cane rod at a reasonable price.

Many of the cane rods on ebay have turned up in a house clearance and are offered at low starting prices, so if you check ebay regularly you have a good chance of picking up a bargain.
